CAN I DRIVE ON RESIN?
Resin bound paving is designed to be easily applied, and it features high durability, so, yes, it can support the weight of all kinds of vehicles, including some commercial vehicle of up to 12 tons.
IS THE RESIN TOXIC?
The resin is not toxic at all, and once the installation process is completed. It’s useful to know that part of the resin blend derives from natural plant extracts and more than that, it’s a much safer alternative to concrete and tarmac thanks to its environmentally-friendly nature.
HOW IS IT PERMEABLE?
The process of blending the aggregate with the resin creates a covering all over the stone and allows the existence of gaps between the stones so that water can be filtered through it.
WHAT DEPTH IS IT NORMALLY LAID AT?
The depth of each project varies according to more factors. For instance, it depends on the type of application and also the size of the aggregate that we use. However, usually, the typical depth is around 18mm.
CAN I LAY IT MYSELF?
We don’t recommend applying the resin bound paving yourself, but if you prefer some pre-work requirements such as cobbling or tarmacking to be arranged by your own contractor, this can be done, but only as long as they meet West London Resin's requirements. However, we will always require one of our trusted qualified trained and experienced professionals to apply the resin materials. It’s also important to mention that resin bound surfacing can be installed anywhere, both inside and outside and the only thing that is required is a suitable base that has been previously installed.
HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?
We usually advise our resin lasts for about 15 years if the paving is maintained correctly as advised. On the other hand, the resin technology itself will last even more than 25 years, of course, depending on its maintenance and how it’s used.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CURE?
West London resin bound paving will be ready for use after 6 to 8 hours for pedestrians. Smaller vehicles can use it after about 48 hours and any larger commercial vehicle should allow up to 74 hours; you don’t want to ruin your beautiful new driveway for the sake of one day.
IS IT EASY TO CLEAN?
Resin bound paving is extremely easy to clean and maintain compared to other traditional surfaces that are usually used. All you will have to perform to enjoy an extended life of your project is to sweep the surface regularly, and occasionally power wash it to keep it looking as fresh as possible.
